Gallaudet University, in Washington D.C, was chosen as the first speech and hearing partner in 1954. It was the first school for the advanced education and the world's premier higher education institute for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing in the world. To further assist this mission, Delta Zeta has established a scholarship endowment fund that provides academic scholarships annually. The dance studio was named in honor of Delta Zeta for our continued support of their program.
How to support Gallaudet University:
Time
- Collect school supplies for the elementary and secondary school. Please refer to the Delta Zeta website for the updated partner project list for school supplies which are needed.
- Host a dance event in honor of the Dance Program. Conduct the dances with the music at a normal volume and then extremely low to simulate how Gallaudet students perform without hearing themselves.
- Invite an American Sign Language Interpreter or someone from a local deaf or hard-of-hearing school to a chapter meeting. Have them share how Gallaudet has contributed to deaf education and American Sign Language.
Treasure
- Send your donations to the Delta Zeta Foundation earmarked for Gallaudet University.
- Delta Zeta Scholarship Endowed Fund
- Delta Zeta Fine Arts Endowed Fund benefiting the Dance Studio and Program
- Yearly grants for campus and service improvements
