Recruitment is over… now what?

Many chapters get overwhelmed with the work that follows when Bid Day passes. Bid Day (which is pretty cool – have you seen the great ideas over on our Pinterest boards?), with all its excitement, can feel like the start of a long line of have-to-dos. Though you’ve pledged in your newest members – recruiting them never stops. Remember that you need to carry through on the promises you made to them during recruitment. Make sure to start their experience off on the right foot. As the job of working with our new members transitions from the VP of Membership and her recruitment team to the VP of New Member Education, don’t forget that although you are checking things off your officer list, we have new people to include in the chapter.

Yes, you need all of their personal information right away to enter into Chapter Inc.’s Membership Actions – Add New Members so that they receive their Welcome Email to create a Delta Zeta account. Yes, you need to review the policy statements at their first meeting via the new member program on Enriching U. And yes, it is important to start in on the request to initiate process. But, stop for a moment, after the balloons and cake are finished from your sisterhood celebration and make the transition from potential member to Delta Zeta new member easy for your new women.

How you request information, or provide details to your new members is just as important now as it was during recruitment. Guide them through this new experience with empathy and an open ear. They might be just as overwhelmed as you are with all that needs to be accomplished. Taking a step back and channeling the Bid Day spirit all through the year can make the transition after recruitment just as exciting.
